The One About Pooping
Hello
babies, it's not even the middle of the month but your papa is super eager that
we start on a note for you because so many things are happening with you guys!
Let's
start with the most exciting thing that has happened (baby wise, because big
things are happening with the world right now), meimei achieving her first
roll! I shall mark the date down for posterity's sake, April 10. You rolled
from front to back the day before, however I am not sure if I gave you just the
teeniest bit of assistance when placing you on your tummy, so we shall not
count that. The next day, Good Friday, you rolled from back to front all by
yourself! Papa was playing with gorgor on the playmat, and when he turned
around, you were suddenly on your front! So amazing and sneaky! You did it a
couple more times before you became tired, and managed to catch one of those
times on video, yay.
However,
you decided that night would be a great time to practice your newly acquired
skill. You became wide awake after papa
put you down after your middle of night feed, and promptly decided that 2am is
the perfect time for acrobatic practice. You practiced for minutes till you
finally turned onto your front, however turning from front to back is abit
harder for you and you started crying as you were stuck. You did not go to
sleep till nearly 4am, making the adults very tired. But still, very proud of
you!
Gorgor,
you are chunkier so rolling is probably abit more difficult for you. We will
update when you get there! In the meantime, regular tummy time for you!
However, you dislike tummy time, maybe because you don't always use your hands
to press down and then you face plant.
Gorgor, I
have to record down a massive poonami that you did. It was early in the
morning, 5ish / 6am and you did not go back to sleep after your early morning
feed. I was playing with you on my lap, and decided to transfer you to your
rocker. As I carried you, I noticed brown stains on the leg hole of your
diaper. I quickly carried you to the diaper changing spot on the sofa, and it
was so smelly and such a huge amount of poop. As I cleaned you up, I noticed
that there was poop on my pants. I looked over to where you were earlier, and
saw that there were chunks of poop on the carpet and on my phone! A big clean
up exercise ensued, and we ended up throwing the living room carpet away. To be
fair, papa and I were already contemplating getting rid of it (because it has
been stained with pee / milk / regurgitated baby feeds since you guys came
along), but you spurred us into immediate action. I wished I took a photo of
the scene because it was quite a sight, but then, my phone had poop on it.

Have I
said both of you have become more vocal? Both of you are positively chattering
now, sometimes to each other if we bring you guys close. Gorgor you're the
nice, friendly one, usually laughing and chortling. Meimei you are abit
fiercer, sometimes yelping at your gorgor, which scares him (he does scare easy
sometimes though). Try not to be so fierce ok (but I fear the apple does not
fall far for the tree). Gorgor is now terrified of meimei, crying when meimei touches gorgor.

Let's put a smile on that face |
Both of
you are playing more now. I think I mentioned earlier that you have discovered
your hands, and lick your hands like it is super delicious. Meimei your first
favourite toy is Sophie the Giraffe, you hold it and lick it, so much so that
Sophie is turning into an albino giraffe. Popo has insisted that Sophie is
yours because you look so happy with it, and says that gorgor can have Fanfan
the fawn instead. Gorgor you don't seem to have a particular favourite, and
play with whatever we give you. You do seem to especially enjoy your furry
blanket and touching the furry surface. Oh and you love it when we play rocket
man with you, it almost always makes you laugh (except when you are overtired),
and your laughter is such a delight to hear. Gorgor you also love huffing on mummy's chouchou, taking deep whiffs and rolling around on the bed.

Right
now, covid-19 is raging in the world and spreading in Singapore. You guys are
too young to remember, and hopefully when you guys are old enough to read this
it will be a distant memory. But because of the pademic, we have to practice
social distancing and play our part to reduce the spread of the virus, and also
protect ourselves from getting sick. This means not as many outings with you
guys as we would like, and minimising the people that can visit you guys. We
are lucky that we managed to hold your 100 days celebrations before measures
such as circuit breaker were implemented. In time, we hope that we can bring
you guys out, and you guys can wear your going out clothes!
P.S I
suspect you guys are undergoing your 4th month sleep regression or will undergo
it soon (hence meimei and her night acrobatics). Please go easy on us, papa and
I are not happy campers when we are sleep deprived. Would like to note that meimei did manage an 8 pm to 6 am unicorn stretch of sleep once.
Addendum by papa at the end of the month
We started you two on solids at around 4.5 months, but meimei rejects it outright, and gorgor has constipation after the cereal. Gorgor you didn't poop for 6 days and we got worried, we tried massaging your tummy and cycling your legs to no avail. And stopped rice cereal too. Finally gave you a suppository, couldn't have been pleasant (you had the same stunned look like when I accidentally clipped your finger when clipping your nail), but you achieved smelly relief and got back to your cheery self after pooping.
